OFR TESTS THAT COULD CHANGE THEIR LIFE

Leading Austin-based Education Company Announces Dynamic SAT/PSAT Test Prep Courses

AND Private Instruction Program for Individuals and Small Groups throughout Central Texas

(AUSTIN, TX) -- Austin-based education company House of Tutors has announced dynamic Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and Preliminary SAT (PSAT) preparation classes which are designed to greatly improve test scores that could ultimately help change the trajectory of students’ lives. According to the company’s general manager, Judy Walker, House of Tutors is responding to a critical need for students and parents to understand the true impact of taking these important standardized tests. “Top scores on the SAT/PSAT,” she notes, “can result in substantial scholarship opportunities and increases chances of getting into a wider variety of colleges and universities” To meet this need, they have introduced high-energy teaching styles and the option for private off-site instruction for individuals and small groups.

“We want to take the anxiety out of this process, but still deliver results,” said Toby Peterson, test preparation director at House of Tutors. “Students need to effectively and quickly learn and retain vital information that will help them achieve higher test scores. So we have designed these classes to engage students with teaching methods that grab their attention and sustain their interest. Our tutors use engaging, even humorous approaches to the test in order to keep students interested in the material!”

For the first time ever, House of Tutors’ time-tested instruction and extraordinary reputation as a leader in test preparation is now available for private off-site tutoring. Until now, SAT and PSAT preparation typically involved basic prep classes or self-paced books. Walker observes that “Many kids’ first and only introduction to these tests is just a listing on the school calendar, so they don’t even prepare. They have no idea how the tests can help them get scholarships. Helping a student prepare for these tests is probably the single most important investment a parent can make for their child.”

With the new programs, tutors who specialize in test preparation will travel to any location within an approximate 50-mile radius of Austin including private homes, classrooms, community centers or virtually any convenient, safe location. For added value, House of Tutors works with small groups to arrange convenient meeting locations at a number of sites in and around Austin. The classes are designed to accommodate as many as 10 students per instructor, while individual instruction is also available.

“Every student needs support to succeed, and has the ability to achieve great results using the programs we offer. When a student earns higher test scores they have better choices for the future,” Walker said.

Peterson added that the 15-20 hour curriculum is comprised of skill building workshops. "So much of student anxiety surrounding the SAT is really a fear of the unknown. Our classes help demystify the test, and once students know what to expect, their chances to excel improve considerably."

Because the offsite class schedules are coordinated between students, parents, and House of Tutors, families have a variety of options for the course's time frame. The curriculum can be spread over a leisurely ten-week session, or can be compressed into longer meetings in a shorter period of time.

"When students wait to get ready for the SAT, their attention is divided between class work, adjusting to a new academic and social schedule and test preparation," Peterson said. "During the summer, they can focus on just the test. And because of the way we teach SAT and PSAT prep courses, students retain what they learn. They're not just cramming for finals."

House of Tutors also offers a unique incentive program which guarantees that any student achieving a perfect test score receives a full refund for the course. Additionally, students can receive $1.00 off per two-point improvement on their test score up to $100 off the total fee. Course fees range from $599 to $899. The Plus Package can be purchased and added on to any course for a $150 fee. This package includes college essay analysis, information on college admissions requirements for any college or university, and an individual student we page designed to help student, parents and educators track student progress throughout the admissions process.
